چکیده

Frequency-domain equalization (FDE) based on minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion can replace rake combining with much improved bit error rate (BER) performance of the multi-code direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) signal transmission in a severe frequency-selective fading channel. However, since the channel cannot be completely equalized, the residual inter-code interference (ICI) is present and therefore, the BER performance degrades as the number of parallel codes increases. In this paper, we propose frequencydomain multi-stage parallel interference cancellation (FD-MSPIC). In FD-MS-PIC, interference replica is generated and subtracted from the received signal in the frequency-domain and then, MMSE-FDE is carried out. The achievable BER performance is evaluated by computer simulation. Keywords-component; Direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS), Frequency-domain equalization (FDE), ICI, PIC

Throughput Performance of MC-CDMA HARQ Using ICI Cancellation

Multi-carrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) is a promising wireless access technique for the next generation mobile communications systems, in which broadband packet data services will dominate. Hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) is an indispensable error control technique for high quality packet data transmission. The HARQ throughput performance of multi-code MC-CDMA degrades due...

Frequency-Domain Iterative Parallel Interference Cancellation for Multicode Spread-Spectrum MIMO Multiplexing

Very high-speed data services are demanded in the next generation wireless systems. However, the available bandwidth is limited. The use of multi-input multi-output (MIMO) multiplexing can increase the transmission rate without bandwidth expansion. For high-speed data transmission, however, the channel becomes severely frequency-selective and the achievable bit error rate (BER) performance degr...

Frequency-Domain Multi-Stage Soft Interference Cancellation for DS-CDMA Uplink Signal Transmission

It is well-known that, in DS-CDMA downlink signal transmission, frequency-domain equalization (FDE) based on minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion can replace rake combining to achieve much improved bit error rate (BER) performance in severe frequencyselective fading channel. However, in uplink signal transmission, as each user’s signal goes through a different channel, a severe multi-user...

A novel Iterative Approach for Phase Noise Cancellation in Multi-Carrier Code Division Multiple Access (MC-CDMA) Systems

The aim of this paper is to emphasize and alleviate the effect of phase noise due to imperfect local oscillators on the performances of a Multi-Carrier CDMA system. After the cancellation of Common Phase Error (CPE), an iterative approach is introduced which iteratively estimates InterCarrier Interference (ICI) components in the frequency domain and cancels their contribution in the time domain...
